Youth Mentoring Program

We provide an anti bullying project/mentor scheme for young people that access our youth centre.  This will involves:

  • Attendance at a 4 week anti bullying groupwork project using hate crime resources provided by Ariel Trust which tackle Cyber Bullying, Racism, Domestic Violence, Homophobia and Anti Social Behaviour. During this the young people with negative issues around identity, confidence, self esteem etc will be identified to be matched with a mentor.
  • Volunteer mentors are recruited, trained then matched with an identified young person.
  • Mentors will gain training around safeguarding and disadvantaged community issues. They will also look at in depth issues around bullying and its effects.  During training, full references and DBS checks will take place.
  • Mentors matched with the identified young person for a period of 3 months. They will offer intensive support in areas of self confidence/esteem, capacity building and social isolation/re-integration into their local community (2 sessions per week).
